Why Spokane Drivers Get Paint Correction Done

Swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation don't just look bad. They lower your car's resale value. Buyers notice dull, hazy paint before anything else, and it gives them leverage to negotiate you down. Corrected paint tells a different story.

Spokane winters are rough on clear coat. Road salt, ice melt, and temperature swings accelerate paint degradation. If you're planning to sell, trade in, or protect a vehicle you care about, getting the paint right now costs a fraction of what neglect costs later.

Paint correction also gives any protective coating the cleanest possible surface to bond to. If you're thinking about ceramic coating down the road, correction first means the protection locks in over flawless paint, not over scratches and haze.

The Paint Correction Process

1

Paint Assessment

Paul inspects every panel under high-intensity lighting and measures paint depth with a digital gauge. This tells us exactly which defects are present, how much clear coat is available to work with, and which correction stage is the right call for your vehicle.

20-30 mins
2

Decontamination Wash

The vehicle is fully washed, followed by iron fallout remover and a clay bar treatment. Removing bonded contamination before polishing prevents micro-scratching during the correction process and gives the machine pad a clean surface to work on.

45-60 mins
3

Machine Polishing

Using a dual-action or rotary polisher with the appropriate pad and compound selected for your paint hardness and defect depth, we work panel by panel. Each section is checked under lighting after every pass to track progress and avoid over-correction.

2-6 hours depending on stage and vehicle size
4

Refinement and Haze Removal

On two-stage and multi-stage corrections, a finishing polish removes any compound haze left by the cutting stage and amplifies gloss. This step is what takes paint from corrected to deep, mirror-like clarity.

1-2 hours
5

Final Inspection and Panel Wipe

Every panel is wiped with an IPA solution to remove all polish oils and reveal the true correction result. We do a final check under multiple light angles before the vehicle is handed back. What you see at this point is exactly what your paint looks like, with nothing masking it.

Paint Correction FAQ

Elite Pacific Detailing offers Single Stage, Two Stage, and Multi-Stage correction. Cost depends on the size of the vehicle, the severity of paint defects, and which stage is required. We do a proper paint assessment before recommending anything. Get a free quote and Paul will give you a clear number based on your specific vehicle.
Most vehicles are completed in one day. A single-stage correction on a standard sedan typically runs 3-5 hours. Two-stage and multi-stage corrections on larger vehicles or heavily damaged paint can take 6-10 hours. You'll get a time estimate when you book.
The correction itself is permanent. Swirls and scratches that are removed don't come back on their own. What determines how long the results last is how the paint is maintained afterward. Washing correctly and avoiding automatic car washes will keep your paint looking right for years. Applying a ceramic coating after correction significantly extends how long the paint stays in that condition.
Avoid automatic car washes with spinning brushes. Those are the main cause of swirl marks in the first place. Hand wash with a quality microfiber mitt using proper two-bucket method, or use a touchless wash. If you want to protect the results long-term, a ceramic coating applied after correction gives the paint a hard, protective layer that resists new defects and makes washing easier.
Elite Pacific Detailing stands behind the work. The correction is documented before and after, so the results are clear. If you have any concerns after pickup, Paul will take a look and make it right. Reach out before booking to discuss specifics for your vehicle.
For swirl marks, haze, light scratches, and oxidation, paint correction gives significantly better results than spot touch-up and at a fraction of the cost of a full respray. Touch-up paint fills scratches but rarely blends perfectly. Correction removes the defect from the clear coat itself and restores the original finish. A full respray makes sense only for deep damage that goes through the clear coat and base coat. Most vehicles in Spokane benefit far more from correction than they would from a paint job.
It depends on how deep the scratch goes. Paint correction removes defects in the clear coat layer. If a scratch catches your fingernail significantly or has gone through to the base coat or primer, machine polishing won't remove it fully. Paul checks every panel during the initial assessment and will tell you exactly what correction can and cannot fix on your specific vehicle before any work begins.
You don't need to stay on-site. Drop the vehicle off and Paul will contact you when it's ready for pickup. You will need to be available for the initial walkaround so the paint assessment and any pre-existing damage can be noted together before work starts.
